1843 - Newbury: 3" of snow on hills.
1961 - Two-night freeze: Burlington 25 degrees was one degree above May record; frost did $500,000 damage; West Burke 19, Chelsea 22, Bloomfield 23.
1998 - Dissipating tornado on line from North Bennington to South Shaftsbury. Extensive damage to many homes along path. Bennington College grounds had many trees blown over or sheared apart.
