Today in Vermont Weather History
From The Vermont Weather Book

1971 - Tropical storm Doria crossed state with heavy rains: Mt. Mansfield 4.50" plus 1.16" on 29th; Cornwall 3.69", Cavendish 3.14" on 28th; washouts on several principal highways.
1973 - Lightning hit ski lodge in Warren killing two persons.
2004 - Thunderstorms dumped 2-5 inches of rain on already saturated ground in Bristol and New Haven resulting in extensive washouts of routes 116 and 17.
2011 - Hurricane Irene brought 4-8 inches of rain to the state in about 18 hours, resulting in flash flooding on just about all rivers. Massive devastation in central and southern Vermont with scores of bridges out and hundreds of roads washed out. Two covered bridges were destroyed. Thirteen town centers were isolated with no passable roads leading out.
