..Winter Weather Preparedness Week Begins Today Across New England
And New York...
The National Weather Service offices in New England and New York,
in partnership with emergency management of these respective
states, have designated this week as Winter Weather Preparedness
Week.
If you have not already done so, now is the time to get yourself
and your property prepared for the winter season.
Listen to NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards, the voice of the
National Weather Service, all week for preparedness and safety
tips. The National Weather Service in Burlington broadcasts on a
frequency of 162.400, 162.425, and 162.475 MHz. This information
will also be available on our internet homepage at weather.gov -

On Monday, we will offer some tips on ways you can best prepare
for the hazards that winter often brings and suggestions to make
the season safe and enjoyable.
On Tuesday, we will talk about what you should do if you have the
misfortune of becoming stranded on the road during a storm.
On Wednesday, protecting yourself from the wind and cold.
On Thursday, winter flooding and ice jams across the North
Country.
On Friday, reacquaint yourself with winter weather terminology.
What do we mean when we say, "A Winter Storm Warning is in
effect?"
On Saturday, a review of preparedness activities for the upcoming
winter season.
Each winter, people needlessly die from weather related causes.
Being weather conscious and prepared is one of the best ways to
keep this from happening to you.
